In the paleolithic caves of France is the horned figure of Trois Freres. It has a bearded face of an old man and various animal parts. Among the possible deities and beings associated with the horned god are: Cernunnos, the Celtic god of fertility, masculinity, wildlife and the wilderness; Herne the Hunter, one of the leaders of the Wild Hunt around the British Isles. The Greek god Pan; Janus, the Roman god of good beginnings, whose two faced (2 faces) visage represents youth and age, life and death.
